Teachers’ Lounge

Here is a resource I think could be used in many areas.  USA Today offers a “teachers’ lounge” (http://usatodayeducation.com/ctelounge/) that provides a variety of resources.  Here is what they have to say about it!

Welcome to the Teacher’s Lounge. You might not recognize it, because we don’t have chipped coffee tables, beat up couches, a refrigerator any self-respecting teacher is afraid to leave a lunch in, and the only bathroom in the school that you trust. But this is still the place to connect with your fellow teachers, swap tips, commiserate on lessons that didn’t work, and brag about ones that did. The Lounge has three features:

  • The blog – Our main blogger, Dr. Sara Davis, and guest CTE teacher-bloggers begin conversations about the realities of the CTE classroom and ways this CTE literacy program can support you. Use this as a bulletin board to commiserate, post a question or ask for advice.
  • The tip jar – USA TODAY educators and fellow CTE-literacy-program users give tips on “what works” when using the CTE program in your classroom. Brag about your CTE literacy successes here!
  • The video gallery – houses short interviews with people currently working in the CTE professions your students are hoping to go into. Use ‘em to inspire and engage your students! Got a flip cam or Smart phone? Submit some video interviews of your own. Nothing fancy here, just plain truth from the horse’s mouth about CTE professions.

Check it out and let me know what you think.  I think there are some great, easy-to-use resources available here!
